I wanted to find a classic hotel to enjoy a romantic weekend in Rome with my partner and I think I made the right decision. accommodation maintains the essence of a great old hotel, with an elegant decor with a carpet floor and traditional paintings. Each of the rooms had a musical thread. attention of the hotel reception and luggage staff was at all times impeccable, courteous and non-intrusive. Those in the cafeteria were also very diligent. It was a luxury to be able to have breakfast on the terrace overlooking the basilica and city of Rome despite the fact that it was winter and one wing was closed. I also liked very much the lobby bar, furniture with fine woods, room's refrigerator with a wide range of drinks at reasonable prices. In addition, for 20 euros more the night I was offered an upgrade to a suite on the top floor of the building overlooking the main avenue and church of Santa Maria la Maggiore. In short, very pleasant and relaxing stay in a well located hotel a short distance from Termini and opposite the Basilica of Santa Maria la Maggiore. Notice to sailors: If you are looking for a hipster boutique hotel with Scandinavian design or modern decoration, forget about staying here! :p
taps were a fake gold that made the bathroom look a little crappy. living room couch certainly had better days. bed however was comfortable and large in size. buffet was not overly varied and fruit and sausages were not very tasty. string speakers were in strange places (under a table) and had little amplification.

Excellent location: within walking distance of Termini Station and the sights. The hotel is opposite the beautiful Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, which is worth a visit. Our room had a balcony overlooking the basilica. The room was small, but clean and cozy. It was cleaned every day, and the bed linen was changed every day. Breakfast on the open terrace. Although the choice of food was small, it was delicious and nourishing. It is better to come for breakfast among the first to have time to evaluate the entire range). The staff is attentive. After learning that the departure from the hotel will be before breakfast, themselves offered to bring us a snack on the road.

There are several strong points in this hotel. The great soundproofing of the rooms ( we were at 504 and 507 and you couldn't hear anything in the street ), the unbeatable location with subway at 2 minutes walk and several bus stops right in front of the door and breakfast on the terrace at the top of the building with fantastic views of Rome and Santa Maria la Maggiore. That breakfast in which the friendly waiters make you a perfect cappuccino and you accompany it with scrambled eggs, bacon, pastries, fruit, cold cuts, yoghurts, salads, toasts... and you delight it in that terrace, is priceless. The juice is from a bottle but you are forgiven for everything else it offers. They put you towels of various types including that one so soft for the face that is something that had not seen for a long time and change them every day. The amenities are varied ( gel, shampoo, body milk, tissues.. ). It has a mini bar with drinks and snacks and a water heater with nescafe sachets, tea.. The beds are comfortable as well as the pillows (there are 2 more in the closet)
The price is a little bit expensive but you have to take into account that Spain and Italy are very different in the categorization of the stars. It's the same as the menus. There they are 15 euros and here in Spain it would be 10 euros.

Excellent location. We had a slightly upgraded room with a spectacular view over Santa Maria Maggiore. Tour buses are very close.

I liked the location of the hotel, breakfasts on the terrace (on the roof of the building), cleanliness in the room (actually, as in the whole hotel), the availability of kettle, cups, tea, coffee, sugar in the room, as well as a sufficient number of snow-white towels!
First of all, I did not like the fact that it is impossible to sleep on a single bed - the mattress is terrible. We just couldn't let our 14-year-old son sleep on it, so the first night I tried to sleep on it. Until four in the morning I never fell asleep, I lay down on a double bed (and the three of us slept funny (oh?)). On the second night my husband lay down in that bed and stayed there until 5 a.m., then I went to a double bed. The third night (the last one in this hotel), the three of us slept in a double bed. The room was very small, it felt like a double room, for us just put another bed. It was frankly cramped, so after breakfast the hotel did not stay long and tried not to return to the room. No duvets - just 2 sheets (top and bottom of blankets). It's the first time I've seen this and it's not convenient. The promised robe and slippers were gone. There is no Russian-speaking staff at the hotel either (this is not a problem, but a statement of fact).

Elegant and comfortable, one of the old world hotels with up to date conveniences. Lovely roof top bar and restaurant. Very good sized bedroom with large and well appointed bathroom. The staff are very helpful and polite. The adjacent cathedral, Santa Maria Maggiore, is magnificent and a "must" to visit.
There is a computer with Internet access in the lobby area available to guests to use, but the Internet access is extremely slow resulting in very high use fees. If you need Internet access, go to the internet cafe down the street.

The room was very big with spacy bathroom and a large corridor. The view in the church of Santa Maria Maggiore was fantastic. We had the same view from the rooftop garden where the breakfast was served. Although the hotel was in a busy area the room was really quiet and comfort, and the archeological sites was in a short walking distance. The staff was very helpful and polite. I would definitely stay at the same hotel when I visit Rome again.

We got a large and comfortable bedroom with a good bathroom directly overlooking the piazza. By booking early we got it at a fair price. It's a quiet hotel, despite being on a busy traffic route, and well situated. Breakfast is ample and the free tea and coffee making facilities in the bedroom were a definite plus. Staff were efficient but not very friendly.
Just silly penny-pinching things like the price of the transport from the airport (there was a 24-hour rail strike on), charging for access to the internet, not replacing tissues etc in the bathroom each day and charging extra if you wanted something hot for breakfast. And the sign warning you not to keep your own drinks in the mini-bar fridge. Why do you for a few bob when you're paying £150+ a night? Nothing was bad enough to spoil the stay, however. As there is only a yes/no on whether to recommend the hotel, I'll say yes but I would also look carefully to see what else was available at the same price.

Good friendly staff .Very clean and nice atmosphere.Good breakfast,Very close to Train station and Hop on Hop off tours..Really close for Walking about...
Our Stay at the hotel was great. But a comment I would like to make about Rome in a lot of areas was dirty with rubbish and very bad graffiti on lovely buildings. Also taxi Drivers abrupt and disconcerting.

I cannot say enough good things about the Mecenate Palace - great location and walked to many sites. Very easy access to train station and public transportation. Room for us was perfect and we felt like we were back at home each night after our fun filled days in Rome. We would highly recommend the Mecenate to anyone except those who have large families or those expecting a DisneyWorld type of hotel. This is Rome, a great city, and the Mecenate fully reflects the uniqueness of a wonderful city. Would definitely stay again.
